Kota Kinabalu's VAR Integration: Goal Sport Software Ensures FIFA Protocol Compliance in MFL.

The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) has taken significant steps to ensure that the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system used in the Malaysian League adheres to FIFA standards. In a major milestone, the VAR system by GOAL SPORT SOFTWARE has been successfully implemented in Sabah, bringing cutting-edge technology to Likas Stadium in Kota Kinabalu.

"The smooth operation of VAR in the Super League after three weeks of matches emphasizes strict adherence to the FIFA VAR Protocol,"

Datuk S. Sivasundaram, FAM Deputy President and Chairman of the FAM Referee Committee.

"Every action and decision is made according to the guidelines specified in the VAR Protocol and the Implementation Assistance and Approval Programme (IAAP). This figure reflects the current understanding of VAR protocols among referees in the M-League."

To ensure the effective use of this technology, FAM has planned a comprehensive training phase from June 6 to 10 at Likas Stadium. "A total of 15 referees, 15 assistant referees, and 10 replay operators will be trained as VAR officials using the advanced Goal Sport technology," Sivasundaram stated.

In addition, for the second batch of VAR training, FAM has begun a new training phase scheduled from August to December to increase the number of qualified VAR referees. This initiative is a testament to FAM's commitment to continuous improvement and adherence to global standards.

On August 25th, the Minister of Youth and Sports for the Sabah region, Ellron Angin, visited Likas Stadium to examine the recent technological upgrades. The stadium now proudly features a FIFA-certified VAR system deployed by Goal Sport Technology, marking a significant advancement in the region's sports infrastructure.

The successful implementation of the VAR system in Kota Kinabalu underscores FAM's proactive approach to integrating technology in sports and ensuring that the Malaysian League remains competitive on the international stage.
